x402AgentTools

💾Data Size Converter

Convert digital storage units: bits, bytes, KB, MB, GB, TB (decimal, ×1000) and KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB (binary, ×1024) — both systems side by side.

This tool is also a JSON API for AI agents. Requests without payment receive 402 Payment Required plus instructions; agents pay USDC on Base via the x402 protocol — no accounts, no API keys.

GET /api/v1/converters/data-size-converter?value=1&from=TB&to=GB HTTP/1.1
Host: agenttools-hub.vercel.app

→ 402 (payment required, instructions in headers)
→ 200 (after X-PAYMENT header; JSON body below)

About this tool

Storage vendors use decimal units (1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes) while operating systems often show binary units (1 MiB = 1,048,576 bytes) — this converter handles both systems and converts between them precisely.

value × TBfactor ÷ target factor (all units relate to the B base)

Frequently asked questions

Why does my 1 TB drive show 931 GB?

The drive is 1,000,000,000,000 bytes (1 TB decimal); the OS divides by 1024³ and reports ≈931 GiB — same bytes, different units.

What is the difference between KB and KiB?

KB (kilobyte) = 1,000 bytes (SI decimal). KiB (kibibyte) = 1,024 bytes (binary, 2¹⁰). The same pattern applies to MB/MiB and GB/GiB.

How many MB in a GB?

1,000 MB in a decimal gigabyte, or 1,024 MB if both are interpreted as binary units (which would properly be written MiB/GiB).
