About this tool
CAGR smooths a multi-year journey into one equivalent annual rate: the rate that, applied every year with compounding, takes the initial value to the final value. It is the fair way to compare investments or revenue growth over different periods.
CAGR % = (final รท initial)^(1 รท years) โ 1, ร 100
Frequently asked questions
CAGR vs ROI โ which should I use?
ROI shows total return; CAGR annualizes it. A 100% ROI over 5 years is only 14.9% CAGR โ CAGR is what makes comparisons honest.
Can CAGR handle losses?
It handles final values lower than initial (negative CAGR), but cannot be computed from a zero or negative initial value.
